Started the Company
David Reed starting up his own company calling it Reeds Landscapes and Building Services.
He had soon built a fine reputation by his customers for completing wonderful projects in their homes and gardens. He realised that he will need to start taking on new members of the team to further expand the business and to gain more customers.
The year of hope
2022 was not good for anyone, who could have believed that this virus would have affected so many of us, so badly and for so long?
Starting 2023 with arctic temperatures that even the hardiest construction workers find themselves wondering, 'what am I doing here?'

Expanding Workforce
David has now been running his own business for 8 years and built up a substantial customer base with plenty of word of mouth referrals. Becoming a member of Checkatrade and The Directory of Excellence, David has continued to build a successful and reputable business. He has at this point, employed several members to add to the team and bought a fleet of work vehicles.
New Premises
David went in search of new premises to base his growing business from. Somewhere to house the office, somewhere with a yard to keep the tools of the trade and somewhere that customers could visit. He found a very special place to plant his own roots for the growing business, within the grounds of a beautifully scenic manor house.
David Reed - Owner
My passion for landscaping started when I worked in a garden centre from school. I learnt a great deal about the industry and developed a hard work ethic that I have carried through into my own business.
Realising that this is what I wanted to do, I started up Reed’s Landscapes and Building Services in 2001, as a sole trader, keeping myself busy creating landscapes and building outdoor living areas for local customers.
I have built a reputation for offering a great service at a fair price and I take great satisfaction from returning customers and word of mouth referrals.
More recently employing several people who have themselves joined me from within the industry, Reed’s have gone from a one man band to a great team.
Oliver Gavin (Olly)
Olly has been with Reed’s now for over a year, in this time he has progressed rapidly into a great team player, an asset to the business.
He is a fast learner, keen to improve, which is great news for us. Having come from a similar background, Olly has been able to get stuck in from the start.
We are looking forward to seeing what Olly can achieve in this next year
Charlie Shackleford - Team Leader
Charlie came to Reed’s from a duty manager role at a sports complex, being a rugby player in his spare time. He is well suited to the hard work involved in this trade, working outdoors in all weathers to get the job done. Charlie is keen to progress, learns fast and gets stuck in with the project in hand. We look forward to seeing great things from Charlie as he continues to learn this trade.
This last year, Charlie has taken on a team leader roll, as he has proved himself invaluable to the team, we would like to express our gratitude to all his hard work, it has certainly paid off.
Lorna Jones - Manager
I joined the team back in early 2018 to look after the administration side of the business to enable David to spend more time with his team and be there for his customers.
My role started as both office manager and on site. customers will have seen me frequently, taking before, during and after photos, getting stuck in with some manual labour as well as delivering supplies
More recently taken a management role overseeing the project work, procurements, marketing and sales
Previously from a construction industry background, experienced in office management, facilities, maintenance, customer liaison, sales and photography

David and his team have delivered a first class job. David took particular time and effort at the beginning of the project to provide brick samples and advice to get the closest match with our house. The result is perfect and the extension looks part of the original build. From digging out the footings to the final work to the roof everything has been carried out professionally. The team cleared up the site each day and were very friendly and punctual. We would highly recommend David Reed and are very impressed with our new dining room.
