Orangeries & Sun Rooms

Having a new orangery extension added to your home, is a great way to create more living space and to add real monetary value. They became ‘fashionable in the 17th Century by traditionally allowing the gentry to enjoy exotic or delicate flower and fruits in their own grounds by protecting them from the colder climes, of course these days, their uses have changed a great deal and can provide a range of uses from guest rooms, offices and play rooms as an extension to provide extra space.

Of course, it is your decision if you want to keep it a classical style orangery, or do you prefer a more contemporary look and feel?

Classic styles including Edwardian, Georgian and Victorian Orangeries, heavily feature brick pillars & pilasters, with highly detailed fascia and glazed windows with astragal bars.

If you are looking for a modern finish, a flat, light coloured rendering to the brickwork, with full length bi or tri-fold doors would give you the appearance of a more open space and with minimum fuss. The Orangery will be finished with a solid flat roof with one or more raised glazed lantern panels that  allow light to flood into the room.

Whichever design style is more ‘you’ and more in-keeping with your home, then Reed’s Building Services can build it just for you.

Sun Rooms are another wonderful way to create an outdoor living space to enjoy the sunshine and can be detached from your home or added on depending on your property and space. These are often known by other names, garden or patio room, sun porch or even winter gardens, but whatever you choose to call it, Reed’s Building Services can design and build it just for you. As with the Orangery, a sun room allows an abundance of sunlight to enter as well as creating a great view of the outdoors whilst sheltering you from the weathers.
