There are a number of benefits in choosing a garage conversion as a way to extend your home, the main one being that it’s fairly cheap to do. If you’re lucky enough to have a double garage, you could convert one half of the space, keeping the other half for parking space and still gain a new room.
One of the great things about converting an existing structure is that you don’t need to lay new foundations or build walls as they are already in place, this will save you a lot of money.
Also, often garages already have electricity so this can also reduce your conversion costs as you won’t have the need for electricians.
However, there are some considerations, (planning permission) and the doors most importantly, you will want to change those especially if you are planning to convert your garage into a living space, you may wish to change it into a window and block off a back door instead. You may wish to add another window. If your garage is already an integral part of your home, this is great, if not, then new doorway openings will be required with the necessary steel work to support them
